Why is messy play important?

Messy play fosters creativity and imagination, encourages language and communication skills, practices concentration, and promotes physical development.

Squeeze… Squish… Splosh…

Our adventurers just love getting mucky and making a mess – whether that’s squishing jelly through hands, smearing mud across their faces or crunching cereal between their little fingers and toes.

Does messy play really benefit a child?

Messy play is extremely beneficial for a child’s development. It provides children with an exciting tactile and sensory experience to inspire their curiosity, allows them to explore the world around them and enhance their language skills. Children learn through experimentation and discovery, messy play encourages this, supporting children’s natural instinct to be explorative.

Messy play enhances a child’s cognitive development and learning, as well as nurturing their physical development. Our aim is to prepare children for the skills needed to do some basic tasks such as holding a pencil, throwing a ball or using a knife and folk.

Why choose Messy Adventures

Grown Ups

As parents we often put ourselves at the bottom of the priority list. The truth is as wonderful as parenting is, it can be lonely. As a parent of two young children, I feel it is really important to build a network of support. Our classes are structured so that there is no formal teaching; this enables you to meet other like-minded parents and carers in an informal environment.

Our Adventurers

Our classes are suitable for babies from 6 months to 5 years. If you have more than one child of pre-school age do come and join in together, we want to welcome as many of you as possible.

We offer a discount of 50% off every additional child from the same family. We are fully inclusive and welcome anyone wishing to join in messy play.

Our Classes

Each session is 1 hour long. Every week there is a new theme and exciting materials to explore. All our play resources are homemade and taste safe.

Our classes are a great way to make memories and new friends in your local area. We set up and clear away, all you need to do is enjoy and have fun.

Family messy adventures owner Louise Spencer Stevens

My story…

I am Louise the owner of Messy Adventures, mother to two beautiful girls. I attended several baby and toddler classes with my first daughter and although we enjoyed them it was the ones involving messy play that were always the favourite. The freedom and learning opportunities for both of us were immeasurable. Each session was structured to a particular theme though allowed us to explore in any way we wanted. Benefits included meeting other parents and children within the local community. After Imaginosity closed we really missed the opportunity to enjoy play with others. The Role Play Village was designed for children to have a unique opportunity to use their imagination and creativity.

I have carried out extensive research on what the impact of being a new mother, father or carer has on individuals; it is clear that over 60% of new parents / carers in Ireland reported to have felt lonely after having children. This spurred me on to develop programs that would allow families to build stronger bonds with their children, children to interact with each other in a sensory environment, whatever their ability and the adults to meet other like minded parents/ carers and hopefully form friends for life.

My family moved to Ireland from the UK early in 2018. I was fortunate to be employed in retail, working on some innovative projects, including delivering organised events for children. I developed Messy Adventures because I want to share my passion and enthusiasm for child-led play with as many people as possible.
