Role play village

Our educational Role Play Village where children are given the unique opportunity to use their imagination & creativity whilst entering a world of make believe.

We help families to make memories by providing an interactive child-led learning experience. Each child is given a unique opportunity to immerse themselves into a world of make believe.

Our Role Play Village

Our bespoke mobile Role-Play Village is the first of its kind in Ireland and was created with little adventurers in mind, suitable for children from age 1 to 6 years. We loved Imaginosity the children’s museum and were very sad like many it did not reopen. We set out to ensure children could enjoy role play in a similar setting. We are proud to have been described as Imaginosity on wheels! We bring our Role Play Village to various locations in Dublin including Swords, Malahide and Dundrum. We also cover Ashbourne in Meath and will be coming to Naas Kildare very soon.

Each of the 10 destinations of our village represents a real world scenario with miniature tools and utensils to immerse themselves into that specific role. Our scenarios are those that your children will come across during their day to day lives and we’ve also included areas to promote and develop special interests and to inspire your little ones.

The benefits of role play

Here at the Role-Play Village we understand that play is a serious business and that’s why we put it at the center of everything we do.

“It’s voluntary, it’s pleasurable, it offers a sense of engagement, it takes you out of time. And the act itself is more important than the outcome.” Writes Psychiatrist Stuart Brown author of “Play”

When we play we develop lifelong skills as well as building emotional connections and nurturing relationships it increases happiness while reducing stress. Play helps to build on empathy, collaboration and creativity.

Through play children have the best chance to develop a strong sense of self and in turn become happy adults.

Active Learning

At the Role-Play Village we encourage active learning as set out in the Aistear main principles for Early Childhood.

“Active learning involves children learning by doing things. They use their senses to explore and work with the objects and materials around them and they interact enthusiastically with the adults and other children that they meet. Through these experiences, children develop the dispositions, skills, knowledge, and understanding, attitudes, and values that will help them to grow as confident and competent learners.”

Play and hands on experience

Another important Aistear principle for learning is Play and Hands on experience. Our Role Play village is designed with these experiences in mind.

“Much of children’s early learning and development takes place through play and hands-on experiences. Through these, children explore social, physical and imaginary worlds. These experiences help them to manage their feelings, develop as thinkers and language users, develop socially, be creative and imaginative, and lay the foundations for becoming effective communicators and learners.”

Heuristic play

During the development of the Role-Play Village a lot of thought has gone into the materials that the children will use during their visit, studying the Heuristic play techniques we use this approach and in turn offer a range of objects to promote critical thinking and the child’s natural curiosity to figure out what can be done with them.

Toddlers no longer just feel items they now have the need and urge to gather, fill, dump, stack, knock down, select and manipulate objects in other ways. All of these needs can be met during one of our role-play sessions.
